School District of Philadelphia New Samuel Fels High School
The School District of Philadelphia is building a new Samuel Fels High School on a 23.16 acres site located in the Northeast Area of Philadelphia located at the intersection of Langdon Street and Sanger Street in Philadelphia. The proposed project has an on-site parking for 267 vehicles. The gross area of the proposed Building is 45,675 SF, which is broken down as 175,317 SF on First Floor, 69,437 SF on the Second Floor and 921 SF for the Pool Equipment Room.
Samuel Fels High School
The proposed Building Project is a 1 Story Building with a partial Second Floor. The methods of construction is concrete slab on grade, steel frame and load bearing concrete masonry walls, brick veneer and concrete masonry cavity walls, concrete masonry interior walls, a combination of a concrete slab and steel deck on steel joist, and concrete plank floor construction. The construction utilizes a combination of a membrane roofing system on steel deck and joists and a standing seam metal roof with rigid insulation. The building is equipped with an automatic sprinkler system throughout.
The proposed building has been broken into six distinctive areas A, B, C, D, E and F for construction phasing and drawing clarification purposes. The first floor includes a kitchen, cafeteria, auditorium, music rooms, administrative suites, classrooms, media center, library, gymnasium, natatorium and mechanical rooms. The second floor houses a student center, counselor suites, art studio, dance studio, production studio, classrooms and science laboratories.
