NYCDEP Flushing Bay CSO Retention Facility
This project involved the construction of the Combined Sewer Overflow (C.S.O) Retention Facility. The facility was constructed above ground on top of the Northern portion of the underground storage tank built under contract CS4-3. The site is located at the Avery Park Ball Fields in Flushing Meadow, Corona Park, east of the Van Wyck Expressway, south of Fowler Avenue and west of College Point Boulevard. The goal was to help reduce and control the amount of Combined Sewer Overflow that discharges into Flushing Creek and Bay from the largest outfall (CS4), which is the largest contributor of combined sewer overflow discharging from Kissena Corridor and Park Drive East to Flushing Creek Drainage areas. The stored C.S.O. is pumped to a nearby interceptor, which then flows to the Tallman Island Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) in College Point Queens for further treatment. There will also be a Park Department Maintenance Building developed in the last stage of construction.
Techno, provided Electrical Inspection services as a subconsultant to Malcolm Pirnie, Inc. of White Plains, NY, during the construction phase of the project.
