NYCDEP 26th Ward WWTP Preliminary Treatment Reliability Improvements and High Level Sewage Pump Replacement

1. Blowers remediation, Pump and Blower House – Personnel Areas: 

  • Demolition of existing blowers, Furnishing and installing five (5) turbo blowers, including alternate air intake for blower #3, new substation for all blowers. Test and place blowers into satisfactory operation. 
  • Converting old locker room into new transformer room, rehabilitation of first floor facilities and constructing new locker facilities on 2nd and 3rd floors, including new HVAC system. 
  • Furnishing spare parts as required by detailed specification. 

 

2. Flow Division Structure/Preliminary Settling Tanks: 

  • Constructing new additional preliminary settling tank PST#5 adjacent east of PST #4 located near former area of demolished ammonia building, including bulkhead chamber above existing influent channel between PST 3 and 4, new primary sludge gallery, MCC #25 and scum pit. 
  • Constructing new flow division structure, including its associated tapered channel and 42” raw sewage pipe. 
  • Modifications to primary sludge gallery and tanks PST#1, 2, 3, 4, including its associated walls, channels, weirs, underground pipes, manholes and other appurtenance. 
  • Re-route main raw sewage flow through new FDS making tap connection into existing 78” raw sewage, capping 36” Alaskan pump discharge header. 
  • Furnish spare parts as required by detailed specification. 

 

3. BNR building: 

  • Demolish existing Glycerol System, set up new sodium hydroxide storage tank, including containment masonry enclosure with electrical, HVAC, and fire protection system installation. 

 

4. Submersible (Alaskan) pumps replacement: 

  • Remove, install, test and place into satisfactory operation two (2) new submersible pumps. 
  • Replacement submersible pumps will be furnished by City. 

 

5. Replacement of three (3) existing spool pieces: 

  • Remove and replace of existing suction spool pieces associated with main sewage pump number 2, 3 and 1, including suction gate valves and actuators. 

 

6. Replacement of three (3) high level main sewage pumps: 

  • Remove existing, furnish and install new main sewage pump number 2, 3 and 1 including all associated power and control modifications to switchgear cubicle, mimic panel and 
  • Test and place into satisfactory operation.
