NYCDDC Water Main work at Various Locations in Queens
Techno has provided Resident Engineering Inspection Services for NYCDDC Capital Water Main Project limits in the borough of Queens. The work that needs to be completed for this particular contract consists of the replacement of old unlined cast iron distribution water mains in various locations.
This project comprises replacing old unlined cast iron water mains with new 8-in, 12-in, and 20-in water distribution and fire protection systems in Queens (QED 992): Grand Central Parkway, Union Turnpike, and Queens Blvd, along with numerous side streets in the borough. The area has numerous commercial businesses and MTA bus routes, and NYC Transit Subway system along Queens Blvd. Work included coordinating with the NYCDDC and the NYCDEP and any other pertinent agencies (DPR, MTA, NYPD, NYCDOT, DEC, etc.), and coordinating with the Community Board to keep them and the residents informed on construction activities.
- A. Water Main (20” D.I.): Total length = 10,000 LF
- B. Water Main (12” D.I.): Total length = 3,000 LF
- C. Water Main (6” D.I.): Total length = 500 LF
The project also includes the construction and placement of:
- 120 fire hydrants
- 200 house connections
- 50 wet connections
Provided Resident Engineering Inspection Services, Techno staff prepared the following to tracked progress:
- Prepared of field cards
- Prepared of In-service sheets, tap cards, and quantity estimates, and sub-mission of payments in PIMS
- Prepared of change orders and cost overruns for various aspects of the projects
- Ensured timely actions for all activities
- Attended project progress meeting and documenting the meeting minutes
- Maintained submission log for all correspondence from NYCDDC & Con-tractor
