NYCDDC Installation of Distribution Water Mains and Appurtenances for New Building Construction in Manhattan
Techno is providing Resident Engineering Inspection Services for NYCDDC Capital Water Main Project limits in the borough of Manhattan. The work that needs to be completed for this particular contract consists of the replacement of old unlined cast iron distribution water mains in various locations in addi-tion to new water mains and building services.
This project comprises replacing old unlined cast iron water mains with new 8-in, 12-in, and 20-in water distribution in Manhattan (MED642): Work includ-ed coordinating with the NYCDDC and the NYCDEP and other pertinent agen-cies (NYCDOT, MTA, etc) and private utilities including ConEdison, Charter, Verizon/ECS to accomodate the new watermain within the existing facilities.
The project limits fall within two general areas one each on the East and West side of Manhattan. The current locations in the project are as follows: E 1st, E 2nd, and E 3rd between 1st and 2nd Avenues, 1st and 2nd Avenues between E 1st and E 3rd Streets, W 15th through W 18th between 8th Avenue and 9th Avenue, and 8th and 9th Avenues between W 15th Street and W 18th Street. These areas require a lot of coordiantion with the community due to the close proximity to the Meatpacking BID, residential areas, several schools, churches etc.
Providing Resident Engineering Inspection Services, Techno staff prepared the following to track progress:
- Prepared field cards
- Prepared In-service sheets, tap cards, and quantity estimates, and submission of payments in PIMS
- Prepared change orders and cost overruns for various aspects of the projects
- Ensured timely actions for all activities
- Attended project progress meeting and documenting the meeting minutes
- Maintained submission log for all correspondence from NYCDDC
