NYCDDC Green Infrastructure in Flushing Creek
Techno is providing Resident Engineering Inspection Services to NYCDDC on the $7 million Green Infrastructure Project in the Borough of Queens. The proj-ect involves the construction of approximately 300 Right-of-Way Bioswales (ROWBS) and other green infrastructure in the Flushing Bay area (Tallman Island CSO tributary area), including curb and sidewalk reconstruction, pave-ment marking, and traffic work.
This project is for the construction of approximately 300 Right-of-Way Bioswales (ROWBS) and other green infrastructure in the Flushing Bay area, and includes:
- Excavation of the bioswale locations, funishing and installing High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) barrier, and installation of HDPE pipe for hydraulically connected bioswale
- Furnishing and installing geotextile fabric, open-graded stone, engineered soil, and concrete header in accordance with the requirements of the design drawings
- Reconstruction of new curb, new sidwalk, L-shaped edging, and stone strip bed
- Installation of stone filled gabion and steel tree pit guards, as well as performing all final grading and landscaping activities and watering and weeding during the maintenance period
Techno’s duties and responsibilities as the REI are as follows:
- Monitors the issuance of all contractors’ work permits and safety related permits
- Monitors construction related work activities to confirm they are conducted in accordance with DDC policies and regulations pertaining to safety
- Maintains documentation and conducts job progress meetings, CPM scheduling meetings, and safety meetings
- Monitors the conditions at the site for conformance with the DDC construction documents and with the Site Safety Plan
- Notifies DDC of any emergency conditions and directs the contractor to provide such labor, materials, equipment, and supervision to abate such conditions
