East Windsor Township Water Main improvements through HDD

The Township of East Windsor, New Jersey embarked a project for the Improvement of their Water Mains, which includes laying of 5,645 feet of pipes in three different segments, which are as follows: 

  • Old Cranbury Road – Laid 1040 LF of 12” of 12” dia. High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipe through Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) method in paved areas, including all fittings, bends, gate valves, manual air release valves, heat fusing of pipes and connection with DIP pipe at both ends, pressure testing at 125 psig, house connections, pavement restoration , and lane striping. 
  • Millstone Road – Laid 2,914 LF of 16” dia. Ductile Iron Pipe (DIP) by open cut method both in paved and non-paved areas, including all fittings, bends, gate valves, and manual air release valves, pressure testing at 125 psig, pavement restoration and lane striping. 
  • Rocky Brook Road – Laid 1,691 LF of 12” dia. Ductile Iron Pipe (DIP) by open cut method both in paved and non-paved areas, including all fittings, bends, gate valves, manual air release valves, reducers, pressure testing at 125 psig, pavement restoration and lane striping. 

Techno’s Role 

For its Resident Inspectors, Arcadis had utilized the services of Techno under the direct supervision of the Resident Engineer to perform the work. Specifically, the Resident Inspection services included the following: 

  • Observe and continuously monitor the Contractor’s work for conformance to the construction contract documents and the approved shop drawings. 
  • Document the progress of the Contractor’s work through daily inspection reports. 
  • Address Contractor questions and concerns and provide communication between the Resident Engineer and the Contractor. 
  • Record daily Contractor pay quantities on unit price items.
