City of Baltimore DPW Druid Lakes
As a Sub-consultannt to the RK&K/AECOM JV, Techno is providing Quality Assurance (QA) Management and Mechanical & Electrical Inspection Services, Instrumentation and Control Inspection Services on this contract.
The Druid Reservoir (also commonly referred to as Druid Lake) is part of the City of Baltimore public water supply system. It is a finished water storage facility with a holding capacity, at overflow elevation 214.5 feet, of 364.5 million gallons (mg). The reservoir receives flow from the Montebello Water Filtration Plant (MWFP) and generally is operated within an elevation range of 205 to 213 feet, and averaging 210 feet.
Techno executes a QA program to monitor the Contractor’s quality control program and their laboratory testing; perform in-house review of all functions and procedures; review all material testing activities, and witness off-site test demonstrations of equipment and materials as required by the contract documents. Techno assures that correct test procedures are used, that all required work, services, and tests are fully performed in accordance with the contract documents.
To comply with the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) Long Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (LT2ESWTR), the reservoir must be replaced with covered storage. The Department of Public Works decided to proceed with covered storage system in conjunction with a sodium hypochlorite dosing system for enhanced virus inactivation and residual disinfectant because it was considered a permanent approach in anticipation of EPA regulations becoming more stringent in the future.
Techno is also providing Dewatering/Excavation/Backfill Inspection services. This includes construction progress oversight of soil removal, backfill, compaction and support resolution of construction deficiencies.
