MTA-TBTA Wards Island Training Facility
The 13.2M building design for the new TBTA Wards Island Training Facility complies with all applicable NYS and NYC building codes and ADA requirements. The facility is for TBTA police training, and includes an area for vehicle parking, three training area, two of which are expandable and can support multifunction training requirements, a state of the art hearing testing room, a kitchen and cafeteria, locker rooms and male and female toilets. Within the new training facility, space is allocated for administrative and training personnel, communications, storage and utilities. Also included was an ADA passenger elevator, equipment, and furniture for the entire building.
Personnel performed oversight inspection for the construction of a two-story structural steel building approximately 1500 ft.²
The following were monitored and daily inspection reports were prepared:
- Excavation
- Form work for concrete placement
- Placement of steel rebar reinforcement
- Concrete placement
- Cylinder breaks
- Welding
- Steel erection
- Bolt torqueing
- Soil compaction
